With the rough design of the new taxiway and runway sections marked out it was now time to get down to the painting. For those who've followed Xin Long's progress you'll already be familiar with the simple methodology here, with which I hope to show that anyone can make excellent layouts without needing to go near a computer.
Painting is quicker, easier and gives excellent flexibility. Plus weathering of the results is easy and the painted surfaces have a rough texture more like the real surfaces have. For my runway I really wanted it to stand out from the taxiways. Since the taxiways were already dark grey I had to go darker still for the runway so settled for Humbrol's no33 black paint.
